Achieving 50-Mbps Full-Duplex and up to 6000 Feet (1,820 meters), the CopperLink(TM) 2172 Sets New Benchmarks for Ethernet Over Copper
CopperLink(TM) ... Going the Distance
GAITHERSBURG, Md., Dec. 11 / - Patton Electronics - the leader in network-access, connectivity, and VoIP solutions -- announced today their ultra-high-speed CopperLink(TM) Model 2172 Ethernet Extender is now shipping and generally available.
The CopperLink(TM) Model 2172 extends Ethernet technology faster and farther than previously considered possible over standard copper telephone wire. With full-duplex line rates up to 50-Mbps, Patton's new Ethernet Extender enables network administrators to use existing low-cost infrastructure to deliver such bandwidth-intensive, applications as medical imaging, streaming-media and triple-play in server-to-server or workgroup-to-server environments.
"The early bird really does get the worm," said John Grant, product manager. "The CopperLink(TM) Model 2172 is the fastest, most versatile Ethernet Extender on the market. Production is running full-throttle, and the demand has been overwhelming."
Patton announced the Model 2172 in early November, along with an EarlyBird Special that offers discounted pricing on bulk orders of 10 or more two-packs. Patton is now shipping the overwhelming backlog of pre-orders. To accommodate small-business customers, Patton just added a 5-or-more discount category to the special offer. The offer runs through January 15, 2007.
"Business motivates our technology," said Robert R. Patton, President. "That's why Patton keeps innovating and breaking new barriers. Our engineering breakthroughs solve everyday networking problems with affordable equipment that reaches more users, farther away, while delivering fuller-featured communications."
Faster rates and longer distances over existing infrastructure means CopperLink(TM) technology cuts network cost and complexity by eliminating expensive fiber-optic or CAT5e cabling.
In symmetrical mode, the Model 2172 provides an aggregated 100 Mbps full- duplex connection that extends Ethernet services up to 800 feet (245 meters)* - perfect for such business-class applications as high-resolution imaging and voice-over-IP.
In asymmetrical mode, the Model 2172 extends services up to 6,000 feet (1,830 meters) at 4 Mbps downstream and 1 Mbps upstream* - ideal for such consumer-class applications as streaming music and video-on-demand.
*Using AWG 24 (0.5 mm) wire.
