igus Chainflex CF14 Continuous-Flex Ethernet Cables for High-Volume Data Transfer in Tight Spaces

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - October 31, 2005 - Igus® Inc., the leading developer of Energy Chain® cable carriers and Chainflex® continuous-flex cables, offers Chainflex CF14 CAT 5 and CAT 6 cables for high-volume data transfer systems in tight spaces.

CF14 is designed to withstand millions of cycles at a small bending radius-10 times the outer diameter or even smaller, depending on the application. It is ideal for continuous-flex applications in constricted spaces. The CF14 CAT 5 cable has the capability to transfer 100mbps while the CF14 CAT 6 can transfer as much as 250 mbps. These levels are required for communications equipment and other types of computer and electronics applications.

The CF14 has a TPE-based outer jacket, which is halogen-free to prevent the release of toxic or corrosive gases in the event of a fire. This material also enables the cable to operate at low and high temperatures, and provides oil, coolant, UV and abrasion resistance. The copper shield is braided into a strong, yet highly flexible design over an aluminum foil to enable total shielding. A TPE-based inner jacket is included to meet the requirements of long-lasting, high performance in a cable carrier.

The Chainflex CF14 CAT 5 cable is available with four twisted pairs of conductors and an outer diameter of approximately .21 or .41 inches. The CAT 6 version is available also with four twisted pairs and an outer diameter or .39 inches.
