Galorath Introduces SEER-SEM 7.3: Feature-Rich Upgrade to Flagship Software Estimation Solution

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Oct. 14 -- Twenty years after its introduction and almost immediate establishment as a mainstay application for defense, aerospace, government and industrial organizations, SEER(R) for Software (SEER-SEM(TM)) -- the flagship project estimation solution from Galorath Incorporated (www.galorath.com), a California-based software firm -- has been upgraded to include an array of new capabilities. SEER customers include Bank of America; Boeing; Ford Motor Company; Lockheed Martin; Northrop Grumman; Siemens, and the U.S. Department of Defense.

SEER-SEM 7.3 now includes an enhanced SEER Metrics Analysis & Benchmarking capability that compares organizational performance and industry (best-of-breed, average and low performance) and sanity checks estimates and targets for process improvement.

Galorath's next generation comparison sizing feature, SEER Estimate by Comparison, provides estimates for size, business value, reuse as well as other organizational considerations, allowing the estimation of a project or a portfolio, even before its scope is well understood.

For users looking to enhance their data resources, the International Software Benchmarking Standards Group (ISBSG) database is available as an option within SEER-SEM 7.3. ISBSG provides the industry's largest open repository of software project history and includes standardized, verifiable data from over 4,000 software projects.

SEER-SEM 7.3 also includes numerous modeling enhancements including the effort/schedule relationship when schedules are extended beyond what is optimal, and additional flexibility with productive hours per month.

The SEER-SEM Studio Edition's independent crosscheck now includes both user and Galorath data providing a second estimate based solely on data for organizations with strict governance or audit requirements.

SEER-SEM 7.3 also includes knowledge base and sizing updates such as Salesforce.com's APEX Software as a Service (SaaS) environment and development method knowledge bases with the option to size agile projects with Story Points.

For estimating IT systems, SEER-SEM automatically integrates software estimates into the SEER for IT application, providing total ownership for systems including software, infrastructure and IT services.

"These upgrades are based on the feedback we get from customers as well as our analysis of industry and industry trends," said Dan Galorath, president and CEO of Galorath Incorporated. "Our philosophy has always been that there are no greater experts in the usage and application of SEER project management solutions than SEER customers themselves."
