Estimating Software works in machine shops.

Press Release Summary:

Latest version of Machine Shop Estimating v9.5 software globally resets markups for materials, direct buys, and purchased parts, and it uses global labor rates. AFR to weight calculator gives estimators net weight of sheet metal part. Calculating shear and tap operations have been added for punch, laser, plasma, oxy, and waterjet workcenters. Fuel cost factor table calculates fuel costs per part and transfers them into estimate as direct buys.

Machine Shop Estimating 9.5 Veing Unveiled at Westec, Eastec

NEW BERLIN, Wisconsin - The latest improvements and additions to the Machine Shop Estimating (MSE) computer aided estimating software affect global change capabilities, fabrication operations for cutting and shearing, and a number of improvements to turning operations.

BOM Functions

New functions for the BOM estimate will globally reset markups for materials, direct buys, and purchased parts. Further, a global labor rate update function sets labor rates on old BOMs to current values. Finally, estimates using BOMs now can import items from other BOMs.

Routing Functions

Another global capability enables the estimator to globally reset markup values for all direct buys in an estimate.

AFR to weight calculator

The exciting automatic feature recognition function added in the last MSE release, now is available to the weight calculator for sheet and plate stock. This feature quickly gives estimators the net weight of a sheet metal part.

Shear operation to punch, laser, plasma, oxy, and waterjet

Since many cutting processes are proceeded or followed by shearing, a new, shear operation is available to the punch, laser, plasma, oxy, and waterjet workcenters.

Tap operation for punch, laser, plasma, oxy, and waterjet

A similar need for tap operations is provided for punch, laser, plasma, oxy; and waterjet workcenters.

Plasma/Oxy/Laser fuel cost

A new fuel cost factor table in the database is used to calculate fuel costs per part and transfer them into the estimate as direct buys.

Flexible heads for multi-head laser

When using multiple cutting heads, a newly available option specified the number of parts actually cut with each head. This gives estimators the flexibility to cut some parts with multiple heads and some parts with single heads. The part fuel cost also is adjusted appropriately.
