Metric And Currency Conversions Now Available With Pulsar Estimating Software

Military engineers are using PULSAR Estimating Software with metric and currency conversions, worldwide.

FORESTDALE, MA (May 22) - PULSAR Construction Cost Estimating Software, by Estimating Systems, Inc., is being used more and more by military engineers in support of construction, remodeling and maintenance contracts with U.S. Military installations, worldwide. The software is used at military bases and government agencies and by independent contractors working with these facilities. The software is especially relevant when Job Order Contracting (JOC) or Simplified Acquisition of Base Engineering Requirements (SABER) methodologies are used for construction bid delivery.

According to Allan Cleveland, general manager of Estimating Systems, PULSAR software now has metric and currency conversions built in for ease of use around the world. "Military engineers have been attracted to the multiple reporting formats and our easy-to-use data exporting to spreadsheet or word processing formats," said Cleveland. "These functions, including our flexible back-up/restore capabilities, are now expanded with our ability to handle metric and currency conversions, when necessary. Air Force Bases such as Incirlik in Turkey and Jaber in Kuwait have been using the software for on-base projects for quite some time."

Independent contractors working with U.S. military installations have found similar success with the software. American Engineering Corporation in Okinawa, Japan, has been using PULSAR for three years and finds that the software provides numerous benefits over the spreadsheet formats they formerly used for estimating projects.

"The R.S. Means cost data built into the software provides accurate, up-to-date prices for our projects," said Joseph White, systems administrator with American Engineering. "The accuracy and timeliness of our estimating process that PULSAR provides has helped us strengthen our relationships with the Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa in particular."

American Engineering Corporation, with 170 employees, has been supporting the U.S. Air Force Base at Kadena for 35 years.

We are particularly pleased with the capability PULSAR provides us to obtain accurate estimates for assemblies we customize for common items. Both our people and the Air Force personnel we work with are familiar with PULSAR. As a result, our estimates are more relevant to their specific needs, and overall, the relationship between our people and base personnel has improved."

"Furthermore," White adds, "customer support for PULSAR Estimating Software is only an e-mail away, even though we are more than an ocean apart. Estimating Systems stands behind their software. They provide fast support and always keep our needs uppermost in their minds."

PULSAR Estimating Software will be exhibited at the GSA's Overseas Products and Services Exposition in Heidelberg, Germany, October 28-31, 2002. The software is available for public or private sector use, is GSA approved, and is available for use in Windows® 95/98/2000 NT and XP operating systems. ESI is the leading re-seller of electronic cost data from R. S. Means Company, Inc.
