Essemtec to Debut Smart Solution Concept and 3D MID Production Line at Productronica

Essemtec, the Swiss manufacturer of production systems for electronic assembly and packaging, will highlight its newest machines in Hall A3, Stand 341 at the 20th international productronica international trade fair, scheduled to take place November 12 - 15, 2013 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre in Munich, Germany.
This year's central focus will be the lately introduced SMART solution concept from Essemtec. SMART solution is a holistic, modular and flexible system of matching and interacting hardware and software tools for SMT production. SMART solution provides the fundamental functions required for managing flexible production, supporting growth and adapting quickly to changing requirements. The modular nature of this concept protects the customer's investment as it enables him to upgrade to a higher level of sophistication as his business needs to change.
Essemtec's intelligent feeder system for pick and place machines allows more flexibility, as feeders can be exchanged during production (hot-swap feeders). These feeders can move the production start forward because the machine preparation can be achieved in parallel to the current production. The graphical, touchscreen-based eeZ technology software interface simplifies correct entries and allows intuitive zooming, moving and selection. Many other features, such as a component verification unit (CVU), traceability solution by active bar coding and a fully integration of the production line in the customer's ERP systems, supports the customer where needed.
With the Scorpion, Essemtec has developed a machine platform that combines all conditions for extremely fast and accurate dispensing. Scorpion is able to dispense up to 100,000 dots per hour. In that case, the Scorpion is equipped with the ultra-fast jet valve. In addition to the jet valve, further valves such as the Archimedean screw valve, the time-pressure valve or the piezo flow valve can be used on the machine at the same time. Up to four different dispensing valves can be installed simultaneously. Thanks to eDis-software easy programming and operation allow for the use of a wide range of dispensing applications, including adhesive dispensing, encapsulation, dam and fill, underfill, LED cavity fill, coatings, sealings and other applications.Â
In cooperation with LPKF and MID-Tronic, Essemtec debuts its 3D MID production line, including a LPKF Fusion3D 1000, Essemtec's 3D dispenser and assembler Hydra, as well as a RO300FC for reflow soldering. The Hydra is the first standard machine for dispensing and assembling in 3D. It features an inline conveyor system and quick changeover, making it capable of series production as well as small series and sample manufacturing The 3-axes pick-and-place head can place up to 2,500 cph in 3-D mode and up to 12,000 cph in 2-D mode, additionally it can dispense glue or solder paste.The new LPKF Fusion3D 1000 for prototyping and small batches provides an entry into Laser Direct Structuring (LDS). The flexible laser structure can be used for LDS prototyping as well as for small and medium volume production.
The PANTERA-XVC is designed for prototype and mid-size series manufacturing. The machine offers an ideal combination of speed, accuracy and wide application range, and is capable of placing 4,500 components per hour.
The EXPERT placement system is designed for rapid prototyping and small batch manufacturing. The integrated dispensing system and hot air soldering tool makes this machine a complete production center in one single unit.
