Aiken, South Carolina - 05-01-2009 - ESI has been released by Ameresco Federal to being work on a 20 MW Biomass Plant in Aiken, South Carolina. The complete installation of a bubbling fluidized bed boiler system firing biomass will allow the new system to make both power and process steam available to the Department of Energy Savannah River Facility.
The project will include complete scope of supply for a greenfield operating cogeneration facility consisting of site work; concrete; foundations; buildings; structural steel; waterside auxiliaries; water treatment; material handling and storage bins for biomass, ash, and limestone; stack; distribution and plant piping; electrical, instrumentation and distributed control system; electrical including power distribution and utility interconnects; and other miscellaneous requirements. It will also include two 120,000 pph biomass fired bubbling fluid bed boilers to produce electricity and to provide low pressure steam to remote steam users on the site.
"ESI is honored to be involved in this project which will update the facility's utilities and reduce the emissions by replacing outdated coal fired boilers with a state of the art renewable energy system," stated Jeff White, Vice President, Operations.
