Invensys Ships Protean 4.1 Enterprise Software for the Process and Regulated Industries
Major new Protean software release reduces time-to-compliance and increases operational control through 21 CFR part 11 compliance support, business intelligence B2B capabilities, and shop floor integration
NEWTON, MASSACHUSETTS, USA, July 2, 2003 - Invensys Production Solutions, the Invensys business unit that provides enterprise software solutions for the process and regulated industries, has begun shipping a major new release of its Protean ERP software. This new release, Protean 4.1, supports 21 CFR part 11 compliance requirements, adds business intelligence and B2B functionality, shop floor integration leveraging the ISA 95 standards, and is implemented through cGMP-based methodologies.
Protean is a comprehensive enterprise software suite that helps process manufacturers manage business and plant operations more efficiently. Protean is used widely in the pharmaceutical, food & beverage, chemical and other regulated process industries.

The release of Protean 4.1 strengthens Invensys' leadership in delivering operational compliance and control solutions to process manufacturing industries. It helps improve their performance continuously by delivering the following benefits:
· Reduced time-to-compliance, through new functionality that supports the FDA's 21 CFR Part 11 e-signature and audit control and comprehensive, cGMP-base implementation methodology and validation services.
· Improved business decision making, through a new Business Intelligence Sales Template that enables easy extraction and analysis of real-time sales transaction data from the Protean sales module. CFOs, sales managers and logistics personnel, to name a few, can generate and analyze reports quickly and efficiently. The business intelligence template also draws on sales history, open orders and invoices information for proactive decision-making and sales optimization. The server leverages Web technologies to support EDI formats and alternative document exchange formats. The result is a personalized Web environment, which raises information visibility and enables online interaction with trading partners. This reduces overall cost of doing business by speeding cycle time and improving the accuracy of communications.
· Real-time manufacturing, through new shop floor web services built to the ISA 95 standards that link Protean to any shop floor execution system. This facilitates information sharing across all job functions, from sensor to supply chain by enabling users in different job functions to access the right data, in the right format and the right time.
· Reduced time to market, through the combination of Invensys Validation Technologies validation services, a cGMP-based implementation methodology and the Protean 4.1 product.
