Eriez® Wins 2010 Plant Engineering Magazine Product of the Year Silver Award

Erie, Pa.- Eriez® , world authority in advanced technology for magnetic, vibratory and inspection applications, won a coveted 2010 Plant Engineering magazine Product of the Year Silver Award in the material handling systems category for the company's revolutionary Permanent Rare Earth Drum Magnet, known as P-Rex®. The announcement was made on March 21, 2011 at the annual Product of the Year dinner in Chicago, which was part of the Manufacturing/Automation Summit.

Plant Engineering organizes the Product of the Year competition to recognize the best new products that help manufacturers operate safer, smarter and faster. According to Plant Engineering, the categories spanned 13 components of the Plant Engineering world, with each featuring Gold, Silver and Bronze Award winners, as well as a Grand Award for the best product in show. Plant Engineering subscribers voted to determine winners in each category.

Tim Shuttleworth, Eriez President and CEO, and Mike Ross, Manager-Magnet Development, attended the dinner and accepted the award on behalf of Eriez. "We are extremely honored to receive this prestigious award," said Shuttleworth. He commented, "At Eriez, new product development is driven by understanding market requirements and customers' needs. We saw a clear demand for better ferrous separation in the recycling industry, and P-Rex(TM) offers a solution." He added, "P-Rex's success and recognition as a Product of the Year Award winner is a testimony to the determination, talent and hard work of our team, including Mike Ross, who made the design and introduction of P-Rex possible."

About the P-Rex Scrap Drum
P-Rex's powerful permanent magnetic circuit, designed using sophisticated modeling techniques, is up to 40 percent stronger than an electro drum, requires no "operating" power and is capable of moving large spherical objects at twice the distance. Current electromagnetic drum technology simply is not capable of sustaining a deep enough magnet field to attract much of the heavy spheres referred to as meatballs and knuckles.
