Hitachi Power Tools Introduces a New Metal to Metal Fastening Screwdriver, the W8VB2

NORCROSS, GA., February 8, 2006 - Hitachi Power Tools today announced its new VSR TEKS screwdriver/nut runner that illustrates Hitachi's signature ergonomic tool styling. The Hitachi W8VB2 is engineered to offer the ultimate in both power and comfort, offering the optimal balance of high torque and low speed to master repetitive metal to metal fastening applications.

The screwdriver is equipped with a powerful yet quiet 6.6 Amp motor with 750 Watts of input power. The motor produces a noise level of 76dB - the quietest in its class. The tool's body and handle are covered in a soft, yet durable elastomer compound, which provides a slip resistant and comfortable grip. The handle is angled outward in order to ergonomically conform to the way a hand grips the tool during repetitive use. The ergonomic design features the shortest grip area in its class for added comfort and control. A belt-hook is incorporated onto the top of the body for convenience. The large 2-finger trigger is designed with rounded edges for a better feel during operation and can be locked-on for continuous use, reducing user fatigue. Located for convenience above the trigger is the forward/reverse switch.

The gear case and inner cover are constructed out of aluminum to add durability and increase tool life. An elastomer cover keeps the gear case cool to the touch during extreme use, while protecting the work piece from being scratched or damaged. It is equipped with a simple "turn of the nose cone" depth adjusting feature and detachable nose piece for easy depth adjustment and bit replacements. The 24.6 ft. power cord is unusually long to allow movement around a room without the hassle of relocating to different power outlets.

The W8VB2 TEKS screwdriver features a no-load speed of 0-1,700 RPM and a max torque of 215.1 in-lbs. It weighs just 3.3 lbs and is ideal for metal to metal fastening and can also be used for drywall applications. It comes with a 5/16" magnetic hex socket and sub stopper.

This screwdriver reflects the aggressive ergonomic design being implemented by Hitachi Power Tools. Hitachi is pioneering yet another new trend in the industry- tools that incorporate the latest technology with ergonomic design- a look that will modernize the traditional shop or jobsite.
