Epson Introduces Two New Solvent Papers for Signage Applications

GS DisplayTrans Backlight Film and Signature Worthy GS Canvas Satin Provide Quality and Flexibility for Printing on EPSON Solvent Printers

LONG BEACH, Calif.- Epson America, Inc. today announced two new signage media designed exclusively for the EPSON® SureColor® S-Series and the EPSON Stylus® Pro GS6000. EPSON GS DisplayTrans(TM) Backlight Film is an extremely high-resolution backlight film designed for professional solvent backlight displays or daylight signage graphic applications. EPSON GS Canvas Satin is Epson's newest Signature Worthy® paper, providing a premium quality canvas with the same coating utilized on the highly successful GS Canvas Gloss, but with a satin finish that has less surface gloss.

"These new solvent media offerings further expand Epson's line of signage media, giving our customers advanced solutions for high quality backlit displays, as well as top of the line fine art reproduction and high volume decor output applications," said Jeff Smith, product manager, Epson America, Inc. "The GS DisplayTrans Backlight Film provides an easy way to use solvent technology for producing stunning backlit prints, versus a labor-intensive, chemical-based system that many customers use today. The GS Canvas Satin delivers unmatched resolution and saturation characteristics, providing advanced image quality to inspire and enhance the creative process."

The GS DisplayTrans Backlight Film is a new backlit material designed for high quality solvent printing, allowing sign shops, service providers and labs to use solvent technology to produce stunning backlits with dense blacks, brilliant colors and clean highlights at a quality level that was previously not possible with solvent printers. Delivering sharp images with output speeds of up to 40 square feet an hour in single strike mode, this new film is ideal for labs and service providers that need to cost-effectively complete short production runs while maintaining the highest quality.

Following the success of the GS Canvas Glossy, the GS Canvas Satin delivers the same coating technology customers have come to expect in a canvas, but with less surface gloss, providing a large gamut for exceptional colors and industry leading Dmax for deep, dark blacks. The paper is durable, heavyweight and capable of being stretched for various display applications, making it ideal for portrait photography and color landscapes. Designed to meet the needs of higher volume production applications of Epson's solvent printers, the GS Canvas Satin provides art reproduction houses the highest image quality at production speeds, while delivering unmatched resolution and saturation and still offering the look and feel of a traditional artist canvas. In addition, the GS Canvas Satin and EPSON solvent printers provide a solution that eliminates the need for additional varnish applications or finishing of the prints, offering huge labor savings during the finishing process.
