Epson EcoTank(TM) Printers and U.S. National Synchronized Swim Team Delight Audiences in Times Square and Online

Precision, Athleticism, Elegance and Color Filled Times Square at "Swimming in Ink" event

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The U.S. National Synchronized Swimming Team was at the heart of a spectacular, day-long product launch event in Times Square last week to announce the availability of Epson's innovative, new EcoTank™ printers. Dubbed "Swimming In Ink," the event featured a series of high-energy synchro swim performances in a 17,000 gallon multi-colored tank, EcoTank printer demos, and photo opportunities with the athletes - printed on-the-spot using EcoTank printers - with fans, tourists and many of the hundreds of thousands of visitors to Times Square throughout the day.

"When you're launching a new family of products with the power to dramatically disrupt the printer market status quo, you want to make sure that your launch event makes an equally significant splash," said John Lang, Epson's CEO, who presided over last week's activities.  "With Times Square as our stage, the incredible women of the U.S. National Synchronized Swimming Team as our draw, and Staples as our partner, I think we created a spectacular event."

Sportscaster Jill Arrington served as the emcee to energize the large crowds, while Kerri Strug, former gymnastics gold medalist and Epson brand advocate was on-hand to meet with spectators and support the swimmers throughout the day.  And, while "Swimming In Ink" was happening in Times Square, Staples offered "Print All you Want" days(1) on Epson EcoTank printers in 16 stores across the New York Metropolitan Area from Sept. 23-25.  Swimming In Ink was featured on the NBC TODAY show, Telemundo 47 and dozens of other broadcast, online and print media outlets. For those who couldn't make it to Times Square, the event was streamed live on Epson's web site where it registered tens of thousands of views, and was communicated and broadcasted via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Periscope, engaging a social media audience of more than 15 million.

About Epson EcoTank

The Epson EcoTank portfolio consists of five all-in-one color printers featuring large ink reservoirs - what Epson defines as the Supertank category - that come loaded and ready with up to two years of ink(2).  EcoTank color printers combine the high-quality output Epson is known for with dramatic in-box cost savings and ultra-low cost replacement inks. In addition, EcoTank printers eliminate the common frustration of having to replace ink cartridges at inevitably the most inopportune time. Fewer ink refills also means less waste. When comparing EcoTank to a traditional printer, the ink included with the EcoTank is equivalent to about 20 sets of ink cartridges(3), depending on the model.  For more information, please visit epson.com/ecotank.
