Adhesives Cure in Minutes Without Fixtures

DANVERS, MA - Fast-curing epoxy adhesives from Devcon require no fixturing. Available in three formulations, they are ideal for a multitude of OEM assembly applications as well as for repairs. They offer good dielectric strength and withstand service temperatures of -40° to 200° F (dry).

A general-purpose adhesive/encapsulant, 5 Minute® Epoxy bonds metals, fabrics, ceramics, glass, wood, and concrete in all combinations. Its mixed viscosity (10,000 cps) and its dielectric strength (490 volts/mil, per ASTM D149) make it suitable for potting or encapsulating electronic components. At room temperature, this product has a working time of 3-6 minutes, a fixture time of 10-15 minutes, and a functional cure time of 60 minutes or less. Adhesive tensile shear is 1400 psi. Peel strength is 2-3 pli. Impact resistance is 5.5 ft-lb/in². Compressive strength is 10,000 psi.

With a mixed viscosity of 150,000 cps, 5 Minute® Epoxy Gel is a thixotropic, nonsagging gel with excellent gap-filling properties. Recommended for metals, ceramics, and wood, it works well on vertical or horizontal, rough or smooth surfaces. It has a working time of 3-6 minutes at room temperature, a fixture time of 10-15 minutes, and a functional cure time of 60 minutes or less. It offers excellent adhesive tensile shear strength - 2500 psi. Peel strength is 2-3 pli. Impact resistance is 6.5 ft-lb/in².

A thixotropic, nonsagging gel (30,000 cps mixed viscosity), One Minute(TM) Epoxy Gel bonds to metals, glass, fiberglass, and ceramics and can be used to repair cracks or fill holes. It has a working time of approximately 45 seconds at room temperature, a fixture time of only 1 minute, and a functional cure time of 45 minutes or less. Adhesive tensile shear is 1600 psi. Peel strength is 2-3 pli. Impact resistance is 4.5 ft-lb/in².

All three formulations have 1:1 mix ratios and can be mixed as dispensed to ensure precise ratio control for optimum cure speed and strength. They are 100% reactive, with no solvents and very low VOC emissions. Dispensing systems range from small Dev-Tubes(TM) to advanced meter-mix systems. Although not recommended for long-term exposure to concentrated acids or organic solvents, Devcon fast-curing epoxies that have been cured for a week at room temperature retain 70-89% of their strength after 1000 hours of immersion in motor oil, unleaded gasoline, or mineral spirits.

A pioneer in epoxy adhesive technology, Devcon offers the most technically advanced epoxies in a wide range of viscosities, working times, and cure times for virtually any application.
