New Araldite® Epoxy Adhesive Introduced for Bonding Large Sandwich Panels
LOS ANGELES, May 12, 2004 - A high-performance, toughened epoxy adhesive specially formulated for fabricating sandwich panels used as architectural building walls, office partitions, truck trailer/shipping container siding, and stage decks was introduced today by Huntsman Advanced Materials Americas Inc.
New Araldite® AW 8545-1 Resin/Hardener HW 8545-1 epoxy adhesive is a high-strength material specially formulated for bonding metal or composite skins to aluminum or aramid-fiber honeycomb cores. The product features a two-hour work life permitting its use for large panel-bonding projects and has a low coefficient of thermal expansion to minimize read-through from internal honeycomb cores to panel surfaces.
Araldite AW 8545-1 Resin/Hardener HW 8545-1 epoxy adhesive has a convenient 1:1 mix ratio and a readily spreadable viscosity of 43,000 cP. Panels bonded with the epoxy can be handled after 24 hours at room temperature or 15 minutes at 212°F (100°C). Once cured, the adhesive produces durable laminates with a shear strength of more than 3,000 psi and a glass transition temperature of 135°F (57°C).
