Epner Technology is Chosen by NASA for IR Coating

Epner Technology is a leading coating and plating service announces an advance that provides hard gold electroplating chemically deposited with IR reflectivity over 99%. Hard enough (200+ Knoop) to withstand repeated cleaning, it passes 50 rubs of MIL-M-13508C.

Laser gold plating is applied to imaging optics with no distortion of the optical figure and its remarkable low emissivity (.02) makes it the ideal choice for thermal control of spacecraft components. Epner was chosen by NASA for IR coating on the primary and secondary mirrors: Mars observer.

Precious metals plating including silver, platinum, rhodium and palladium is Epner's engineering expertise but we are not limited to coating of metal substrates. Non metal plastics and glass are also part of our substrates such as plating capabilities.

Electroless nickel plating to all base metals for applicable military contracts are plated in our modern facility. Plated to MIL-C-26074. ASTM, AMS, & aerospace contractor specs for extreme corrosion resistance, hardness and lubricity. Also laser nickel, a pit-free electroless deposit .008" thick, designed for optical polishing.
