Original Press Release:
Rockwell Automation Announces Release of Propack Data PMX® Enterprise Production Management Software to Speed Time-to-Market and Simplify Regulatory Compliance
Latest version provides life sciences industries tighter information integration
MILWAUKEE, June 13, 2002 - Complete automation leader Rockwell Automation has released the latest version of the leading enterprise production management (EPM) software focused on the life sciences industries - Propack Data PMX® MES 3.3.0. A part of the Propack Data software suite, PMX MES 3.3.0 further increases flexibility, decreases implementation time and simplifies regulatory compliance throughout the product development process - from drug development and clinical trial supply through pilot facilities to full-scale production, packaging and warehouse management.
PMX is an orchestrated set of solutions that dramatically speeds up the entire pharmaceutical life cycle while simultaneously helping companies meet strict regulatory compliance. The PMX modules - Research and Development Management (RDM), Clinical Trial Supply Management (CTM), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and Manufacturing Quality Services (MQS) - are focused on quality, speeding time to market and increasing financial performance.
"Release of the Propack Data PMX MES 3.3.0 software fully complements our offerings focused on reducing costs and increasing efficiencies for our life sciences customers", states Leo Quinn, vice president, Process Solutions, Rockwell Automation. "Rockwell Automation's complete offerings exemplify our commitment to assist customers in meeting their financial goals. These solutions include Rockwell Automation's Compliance Services, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Optimization(TM) (PMO), the PMX software suite, and technologies carried throughout our products, such as Rockwell Software RSView(TM) and RSMACC(TM) that address U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of 21 CFR Part 11 requirements."
New features added that further increase flexibility of the Propack Data PMX suite include tools to help with management decision support. The business informer is a secure Web-based tool that allows customers to access and analyze critical production data using the Internet or even mobile phones. In addition, users can now access some applications in PMX MES 3.3.0 using mobile clients such as Windows CE® or Palm OS® devices, allowing increased flexibility and independence.
The electronic batch recording (EBR) capability in PMX allows for advanced procedure development and real-time event handling to maximize productivity. The new software version enables quality departments to develop exception-handling routines for virtually all possible contingencies, such as out-of-limit parameters or recipe deviations. When one of these unplanned events occurs during production, the operator is notified and the proper exception routine is automatically generated. As a result, required in process control (IPC) checks can be built into production procedures and executed during predefined events, increasing operation efficiencies by logging proper deviation procedures and automatically generating required exception reports.
The new PMX MES solution closes the gap between enterprise resource planning (ERP) and production systems while reducing implementation time. It also offers several open interfaces to ERP systems such as, certified interfaces with SAP, J.D. Edwards, and many other third party systems. For example, you can quickly link PMX MES 3.3.0 to SAP's warehouse management modules in a minimal amount of time. Other features also have been added to reduce implementation time, including configuration tools to streamline application development so manufacturers can easily tailor PMX MES to their specific needs.
"PMX MES 3.3.0 will provide our customers the agility and operational efficiencies they are looking for in this competitive market environment," said Karl Linder, managing director, Propack Data, Rockwell Automation. "Technologies in this release, such as the Web-based business informer tool and the enhancement to electronic batch recording, have been developed with input from over 30 companies in our customer user group and our experience with over 250 implementations of PMX in regulated environments."
