Original Press Release:

AAEON Releases an Economic EPIC Board with an AMD Geode(TM) LX Processor-EPIC-5536

Taipei Taiwan (August 26, 2008)- AAEON, a premier Industrial PC manufacturer, releases an economic EPIC board--EPIC-5536. This EPIC board is not as small as a SubCompact board yet not as large as a Compact board. It mixes the compact size, flexibly expandable I/O interfaces that can fit into applications that are fanless and have space limitations.

EPIC-5536 supports onboard AMD Geode(TM) LX800/900 or optional LX700 processor. The chipset is AMD LX series and CS5536. Moreover, the model features 200-pin DDR SODIMM and system memory up to 1GB for DDR 333 or 512MB for DDR 400. It performs at better speed and performance. In addition, EPIC-5536 adopts Realtek 8100C 10/100Base-TX chip that deploys two RJ-45 ports or an optional RTL8110S gigabit LAN to provide flexible network connections. The new EPIC board configures an AMD Geode(TM) LX and TI SN75LVDS83 chipset to support CRT/LCD simultaneous display. It supports up to a 24-bit TTL/LVDS LCD panel.

"The low power consumption is the most significant feature of EPIC-5536. For protecting the energy on the globe, AAEON designed the EPIC-5536, which power consumption is under 10W. In addition to the power consumption, the wide operating temperature range is also another excellent feature of the EPIC-5536. It can fit into the applications of Industrial Automation Control, Entry Security or Traffic Signaling that demand wide temperature operations. Moreover, because of the fanless feature, EPIC-5536 has been designed especially for applications that require low noise operation, such as hospitals", said Isis Hsiao, Product Manager of AAEON's Embedded Computing Division.

EPIC-5536 accommodates one IDE, two SATA I with RAID 0.1 functions and one Type II CompactFlash(TM) for applying to the existing storage of old and new systems. The EPIC board also supports PC/104+ sockets and rich I/O for expansion. The I/O includes four USB2.0 ports, five COM ports, one 8-bit Digital I/O, one PS/2 port and an optional IrDA Tx/Rx header. If you are looking for a solution with higher performance at a very reasonable price point, the EPIC-5536 is a perfect choice for your essential applications.
