Preferred Rubber Introduces New Line of EPDM Compounds for Potable Water Applications

Barberton, OH-Preferred Rubber Compounding Corporation, a leading provider of high-quality, custom mixed rubber compounds to the automotive, architectural, appliance and printing roll industries, announces five new EPDM compounds for potable water applications. The new rubber compounds were recently classified by Underwriters' Laboratories to the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) Standard 61, Drinking Water System Components--Health Effects. Designed for minimal extraction of ingredients in potable water applications, the compounds will not leach out when used in the manufacture of seals and gaskets for pipes and other conveyors of water.   "The testing by Underwriters' Laboratories to the Standard was rigorous and took some time, but we're very pleased with the results," said Bruce Corson, Director of Business Development at Preferred Rubber Compounding. "The development process to produce these compounds took considerable time and investment.  Few rubber compounders have attained this classification to ANSI/NSF Standard 61. We're proud and eager to offer these new compounds to manufacturers." "The tremendous advantage of our Underwriters' Laboratories classified compounds," continued Corson, "is that they will save our customers a great deal of time and expense.  Manufacturers must be certified as well, so by using our compounds it simplifies their approval process, saving them time and money." Preferred also offers four polyisoprene compounds suitable for use requiring exposure to cold potable water in pipes and related products.
