Envision Solar Completes Engineering and Fabrication of "Mini" Tracking Solar Tree® System

Unique "Socket(TM)" Tracking Solar Canopy Includes EV Charging for Full Day Charge

SAN DIEGO - Envision Solar International, Inc., (OTCBB: EVSI), a leading sustainable infrastructure designer and developer, today announced that the company has completed the design, engineering and fabrication of the first commercial offering of its "Socket(TM)" design, a mini Solar Tree® canopy. The structure is being shipped to a site in northern California for installation in July.

The Socket(TM) is designed to provide shade for one vehicle, includes Envision's proprietary EnvisionTrak® tracking technology, and one vehicle charging hookup. The design generates enough clean solar energy each day for approximately a full charge for an electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid. The first prototype Socket was announced and demonstrated in San Diego, CA at the California Center for Sustainable Energy, in October of 2010. The announcement was concurrent with the presentation of the new 2011 GM Volt for public viewing and test drives.

The Socket(TM) includes Envision's patent pending multi-axis EnvisionTrak(TM) solar tracking system, which is designed to increase energy output by approximately 20% over a standard fixed PV array. The patent application describes a "Device for Continuously Reorienting a Solar Panel". Inventors of the Socket(TM) and EnvisionTrak(TM) are Envision Solar Founder/CEO Robert Noble, and company President Desmond Wheatley.

CEO Robert Noble stated: "We began our development work in 2010 on the Socket. With this development and our other offerings we believe we have established new archetypes for the renewable energy and building industries: "smart" solar integrated infrastructure and building systems, which have a range of sizes and outputs for every need, and include tracking, integral EV charging, energy management and shade. And of course we focus on superior aesthetics in every way. These solar energy generation offerings, as they are built, become an extremely important component of the urban fabric we live, work and play in. Therefore, beautiful design is always a key component of our work."

Envision President Desmond Wheatley stated: "We saw a need for a "mini" Solar Tree® product offering, which would allow car dealerships, public agencies, utility companies, shopping centers, individual homeowners and many others to generate clean energy virtually anywhere the sun shines and shade is desired. By achieving this important technology, product offering and intellectual property milestone, our team has advanced our previously patented Solar Tree® products into Envision's next generation of "kit-of-parts", smaller scale, mass market, ultra-high output solar parking array technologies. We see an enormous market for our new Socket(TM) in many sectors: utilities, corporations, military, municipalities, departments of transportation, cities, electric vehicle manufacturers and dealers, and many other markets. Its "bite-sized" scale opens up opportunities for clean energy generation and EV charging in virtually every market and will allow us to further realize our strategy to create highly scalable product offerings."

Wheatley added: "Our company has long been recognized as the leading inventor and project developer of solar parking array systems, with projects installed throughout the US including Dell Computer Headquarters in Round Rock, Texas and the National Renewable Energy Labs in Golden, Colorado. With our new Socket(TM) offering, we can now provide a greatly expanded range of options for our customers, , while providing much-needed shade for cars and people, and an architecturally beautiful enhancement to the neighborhood."
