Environmentally-Conscious Water Bottle Features Custom Cap Made of Thermoplastic Elastomer from KRAIBURG TPE

Reusable ‘Anti-bottle’® from Vapur Delivers Wide-Ranging Sustainability Benefits

DULUTH, Ga.– An innovative, reusable water bottle developed by California- based Vapur®, one of the world’s leading designers of flexible, reusable, handheld products, features a custom cap made of a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) from KRAIBURG TPE. The new Anti-bottle® - designed to stand upright when full and folded or even rolled when empty - is noted for its wide-ranging sustainability advantages over rigid bottles including reduced energy and transportation costs. The patented product is also BPA-free and phthalate-free.

Vapur® teamed with HQC Inc., Chicago, IL, a manufacturer of high-quality custom injection and insert molded products for medical and packaging companies, to bring the innovative hydration product to life. KRAIBURG TPE was brought in by distribution partner Chase Plastics to take part in the process and create a customizable technical solution for the Anti-bottle’s cap.

THERMOLAST K® compounds from KRAIBURG TPE were developed to meet current market demands and are utilized in virtually all industries. One of KRAIBURG TPE’s THERMOLAST K® FD series compounds was selected for this particular application because of its FDA compliance, smooth surface aesthetics, and effortless colorability. THERMOLAST K® TF4BNB is available in hardness ranges from 25-85 Shore A durometer and can also be overmolded to polypropylene. The compound is compliant with food contact regulations in the U.S. (FDA) as well as EU Regulation 10/2011. The TPE is halogen free, has a 45 Shore A durometer, and is recyclable. THERMOLAST K® TF4BNB is also latex- and PVC-free.

The compound was a precise fit for the application because of its environmental and consumer appeal. The THERMOLAST K® FD series is targeted for food-contact applications including container and lid seals and bottle grips.
