New Insect Growth Chamber Offers Many New Technical and Earth-Friendly Advances

(Marietta, OH, June 8, 2009) CARON introduces a newly designed 25 cu. ft. Insect Growth Chamber (Model 6025). The Insect Growth Chamber is another product new to CARON's 25 cu. ft. family of products containing many earth-friendly and customer-friendly features.

CARON's Model 6025 is unlike many other Insect Growth Chambers offered on the market today, according to Dave Figel, vice president of Engineering & Operations.

"Many Insect Growth Chambers on the market are essentially modified home refrigerators and lack the robust components necessary to withstand the harsh environment created with insect rearing," Figel said. "CARON's unit is custom designed with features including phenolic-coated coils to allow years of use in this application."

The Insect Growth Chamber provides a unique high volume solution for a wide variety of entomological studies and offers reliable results for insect rearing experts. Many standard features are incorporated in the design to specifically support insect rearing in an environmental chamber, including the phenolic- coated coils that resist corrosion inherent in the rearing of insects, such as drosophila.

Other standard features include CARON's innovative gROD(TM), refrigeration on demand, control system and gVapor(TM), a steam-free humidity system. gROD(TM) efficiently manages power consumption and saves electricity, and gVapor(TM) delivers controlled humidity without wasting energy or generating heat. Both technologies support lower operating costs and a more earth-friendly testing solution.

"Many competitive chambers controlling humidity use steam generators to produce the humidity," Figel said. "Steam produces heat, which must be removed by the unit's refrigeration system. In return, many of our competitors' chambers waste energy, increasing the cost of ownership."

Like other 25 cu. ft. units manufactured by CARON, the Insect Growth Chamber is designed with a stainless steel interior highly resistant to corrosion. It also includes the unique "tool-less" interior which allows users to adjust the interior configuration of the chamber with ease.

The Insect Growth Chamber comes complete with factory-installed, heavy-duty casters and will roll through a standard 34" x 80" doorway without modification.

CARON's new 25 cu. ft. design also includes an ergonomically designed door handle to allow easy access into the chamber and contribute to workplace efficiency.
