Original Press Release:

Thermal Dynamics® Cutmaster® 42 Joins the True Series Line of Plasma Cutting Machines

St. Louis, Mo. - Thermal Dynamics®, a Thermadyne® brand and a leading producer of manual and automated plasma cutting systems, has expanded its popular True Series line of plasma cutting machines with the addition of the Cutmaster® 42.

One of the few systems with the ability to increase power when switching from 120V to 230V, the 40 Amp Cutmaster 42 is the most affordable and versatile entry-level plasma cutter available. With 27 Amps of output power on 120V input and 40 Amps on 230V input, the Cutmaster 42 offers "The Power of Two Machines Built into One." The portable, light-weight unit is designed to cut up to ¼" with ease and up to ¾" on jobs when the extra punch is needed.

"The versatility and portability of the Cutmaster 42 make the machine perfect for the do-it-yourselfers, automotive and marine mechanics, HVAC professionals and trade schools," said Thermadyne Product Line Manager Dirk Ott. "The ability for an operator to get that extra punch, and to increase the power of the machine, rather than use multiple machines, can save time and money regardless of application."

The applications for the Cutmaster 42 include:

  • Automotive & marine repair
  • Light fabrication
  • HVAC cutting
  • Metal building & roofing construction

In addition to its functional advantages, the 40 Amp Cutmaster 42 can also provide cost savings for the end user since it will be competitively priced for the ¼" market and deliver the performance of a ½" plasma system on 230V. The Cutmaster 42 system will come with gloves, glasses, an SL40 plasma torch and a heavy duty carrying case. The unit will also carry the industry-leading 4-Year Warranty unique only to Thermal Dynamics' True Series line of plasma systems.

The Cutmaster 42 offers a great value," said Ott. "You basically receive two machines for the price of one."

The series has been christened "True Series" because of the guaranteed truths associated with the line of plasma systems. They include:

  • True Strength: The Cutmaster True Series allows you to work all day at our recommended cut capacity. But when you need that extra punch, you can be confident that it's there.
  • True Portability: The Cutmaster True Series offers lighter, more portable machines without compromising performance.
  • True Protection: The Cutmaster True Series carries the industry-leading 4-Year Warranty.

In addition, Vent2Shield(TM) technology allows the use of considerably smaller compressors (less weight to carry, and can be used with 120V) compared to similar 40 Amp units.

Thermal Dynamics sets the standard in flexibility, value and performance for advanced plasma cutting equipment, including manual systems, automated systems, manual torches, automated torches, and plasma cutting accessories. Thermal Dynamics' plasma arc cutting systems can be used to cut a wide variety of material, and range from highly portable units to the most sophisticated high speed, high definition plasma cutting systems for high precision fabrication.
