Entrust IdentityGuard Named to FIPS 201 Approved Product List
Platform simultaneously issues and manages one-time passwords, mobile smart credential
DALLAS –Â Entrust, Inc., a world leader in securing digital identities and information, today announced its flagship authentication solution, Entrust IdentityGuard, has been approved by U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) for the FIPS 201 Approved Products List (APL).
Reviewed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Platform Validation Authority, the FIPS 201 certification focuses on interoperability between the Entrust IdentityGuard and other parts of the PIV solution, including physical access readers and logical access systems. Earlier this year, Entrust received approvals with FIPS 201 and FIPS 140 certifications for the company's PIV smartcard credential technology, which was certified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
Entrust IdentityGuard is one of the few "electronic personalization" solutions on the APL with the ability to not only issue and manage one-time passwords but also personalize a PIV credential on a mobile device. The Entrust IdentityGuard smart credential is compatible with most mobile operating systems including iOS, Android and BlackBerry. Additionally, the platform offers not only on-premises support, but also cloud or hybrid deployment, allowing customers to maximize value.
Compared to others on the FIPS 201 APL, the Entrust solution is unique in its ability to make and manage the major components of the solution - cards, certificates and card management. As a result, Entrust can offer competitive pricing, effortless integration and rapid response to integrate new solutions such as mobile derived credentials.

As a result of being named to the APL, Entrust IdentityGuard credentials can now be used by several U.S. federal agencies that have mandated regulatory rules for PIV. In addition, Public entities that work with government systems require PIVI credentials; Entrust IdentityGuard can service these customers as well. Additionally, the State Identity and Credential Access Management (SICAM), which requires vendors to hold FIPS 201 Certification, can now use the Entrust IdentityGuard credential.
