Engineered Coating can be applied to any metallic substrate.

Press Release Summary:

Available for samples/prototypes and part sizes that fit inside 32 in. cube., Boron Nitride Electroless Nickel (BNEN) plating service provides hardness and lubricity. Composite plating process, able to achieve demanding tolerances (.00005–.002 in. thicknesses), suits parts fabricated from aluminum, copper, brass, magnesium, stainless steel, and steel. Coefficient of friction, ability to withstand up to 1,700°F, and abrasion resistance benefit complex assemblies of moving internal parts.

Advanced Surface Technologies Offers Boron Nitride Electroless Nickel Plating: New Engineered Coating for Any Metallic Substrate

Arvada, CO, – Advanced Surfaced Technologies announced today the addition of Boron Nitride Electroless Nickel (BNEN) plating, one of the most technologically advanced composite plating processes in the industry, to its list of product services.

BNEN is a precise hybrid-engineered coating that can achieve highly demanding tolerances (thicknesses ranging from .00005-.002 inches) and provides both hardness and lubricity to solve multiple problems simultaneously.

BNEN is ideal for parts fabricated from Aluminum, Copper, Brass, Magnesium, Stainless Steel and Steel and can be heat treated to attain maximum hardness for very severe wear applications.

Complex assemblies of moving internal parts for industries such as aerospace, airframe, medical devices and automotive will benefit from the exceptionally low coefficient of friction, ability to withstand temperatures up to 1,700F and the high abrasion resistance that BNEN offers. Mold makers will appreciate the superior release created by BNEN.

“As a nationwide leader in Electroless nickel plating, this expands our capabilities for servicing and meeting the needs of high-tech users with the most demanding requirements,” stated Don Ytterberg, CEO Advanced Surface Technologies.

Benefits of BNEN include:

• Reduced wear on valuable tools, equipment, etc.

• Improved release properties of molds and dies

• Eliminates liquid lubricants

• Reduced galling

• Noise reduction

• Uniform, no post plate grinding

• Superior protection against abrasion

• No reduction in fatigue strength of substrates

• Allows lighter substrates in abrasive conditions

These characteristics are advantageous for specialty applications such as the ankle assembly in a prosthetic leg. Advanced Surface Technologies can apply BNEN for samples/prototypes and accommodate part sizes that are able to fit inside a 32” cube.
