Husky Shotscope NX Software Increases Energy Efficiency, Lowers Costs

Düsseldorf, Germany - Husky Injection Molding Systems today announced innovations to its Shotscope NX® software, which enable enhanced energy monitoring capabilities throughout an entire injection molding facility. Initially launched at NPE 2009, Shotscope NX is an integrated process and production monitoring system that helps manufacturers improve productivity while minimizing scrap and downtime.

The latest enhancements to Shotscope NX provide a finer level of detail into the energy used throughout an entire injection molding facility, as opposed to just a single injection molding machine. Husky customers can now individually monitor all sources of energy consumption, from light fixtures to individual chillers to complete injection molding cells, measuring the amount of energy that is used to produce a kilogram of plastic (kilowatt hour per kilogram). Having access to this data ultimately leads to more effective energy management because it helps customers take steps to reduce energy consumption, which can include the help of Husky consultants who offer Total Energy Management solutions to optimize energy utilization.

"We have been listening to the needs of our customers, who are increasingly recognizing energy management as an effective means to increase sustainability and lower costs in their injection molding facilities." said Brent Collver, Husky's Director of Business Development for Services. "Shotscope NX's advanced energy monitoring capability supports this goal by presenting manufacturers with the opportunity to maximize output while minimizing the impact their business has on the environment and the bottom line."

By implementing Shotscope NX, Lavazza, one of Italy's foremost suppliers of coffee products, was able to significantly streamline their operation. "Our goal was to upgrade to the latest hardware and software for the manufacture of our coffee dispensing products," said Alessandro Bellante, Plant Maintenance Manager for Lavazza. "Covering a total of 13 machines, the installation of Shotscope NX has helped us to greatly optimize productivity and improve uptime in our facility."

Shotscope NX is a monitoring software that helps manufacturers characterize and report on production and process statistics at both the discrete systems and plant-wide levels. By providing real-time monitoring and analysis, it helps manufacturers simplify reporting, improve data flow and coordinate more efficient plant scheduling. Features include an enhanced user interface and web-based software, allowing users to access information from unlimited collection points, anywhere and at any time. The software is also compatible with any brand of injection molding equipment.

The enhanced Shotscope NX system will be on display at the Husky Booth (Hall 13 A59) at K2010 (Düsseldorf, October 27 - November 3).
