Direct Connection Between Discovery: Resolver(TM) and Scopus Enables Instant Access to Full-Text Resources in Abstract and Citation Database; Only Linking Solution Providing Weekly Updates to Knowledge Base
DES PLAINES, Ill., Nov. 3 // -- Endeavor Information Systems (www.endinfosys.com), one of the leading global providers of library management software and a wholly owned subsidiary of Elsevier, today announced that its full-text OpenURL linking solution, Discovery: Resolver(TM), now supports image-based linking from Scopus. Scopus is one of Elsevier's primary science, technology, medicine and social science research information services.
When applying Endeavor's link resolver in combination with Scopus to locate a particular journal article, users can quickly identify whether they have permission to view the full-text of that resource. Before the citation is accessed in Scopus, Discovery: Resolver examines a library's holdings to see if the institution provides access to the article.
"With this direct connection, Discovery: Resolver users will now immediately know whether they can link directly to the full text of a desired journal resource," said Char Chase, Endeavor Product Manager for digital library management solutions. "Both Elsevier and Endeavor are dedicated to ensuring that librarians and information professionals have comprehensive access to a broad array of electronic resources. This announcement further strengthens that commitment and is indicative of the synergistic relationship between the two organizations."
These new connections are provided at no additional cost to Discovery: Resolver customers who maintain a Scopus license.

Introduced earlier this year, Discovery: Resolver is designed as a hosted solution, significantly reducing the technology and labor requirements of library staff while alleviating the need for institutions to supply a dedicated server. Likewise, the solution's multi-disciplinary Knowledge Base allows effective management of library E-resources and as well as user access to those resources, including over 100,000 unique titles and 600 collections automatically updated on a weekly basis.
"Of particular interest to our customers is the accuracy of information accessed through Resolver's Knowledge Base," noted Chase. "While the wide majority of link resolvers only conduct monthly changes, Endeavor's atypical in that it delivers weekly updates to the Knowledge Base."
