End-to-end Expertise in Materials Management

NPE - West Hall Level 2 / Booth 1311

End-to-end expertise in materials management

At the NPE 2012 (1st to 5th April, 2012 in Orlando, Florida USA) motan inc. will be exhibiting a cross section of product enhancements in the following areas of materials management: drying, dosing & mixing and conveying. In particular, the LUXOR A 80/120/160 dehumidified air dryers and the SPECTROCOLOR G loss-in-weight dosing & mixing stations will be highlighted.

A great deal has changed at motan inc. in recent months. With the slogan "think materials management", the company is presenting its entire portfolio of peripheral units for materials management. These include solutions for storage, drying and crystallization, conveying, dosing and mixing, and instrumentation and control - for deployment scenarios ranging from injection moulding, extrusion, blow moulding and compounding to in-line applications and chemical processes. When it comes to handling of granulate, pellets, easy free-flowing and non free-flowing powders, motan inc. takes an application-driven approach. As a result, the company can find answers to all and any customer-specific challenges - and this is underlined by the number of products on display.

SPECTROCOLOR G - Increased profitability in extrusion due to sustainable materials handling

Adding to motan's know-how in the blending and dosing systems with its Graviblend and Graviplus units, the SPECTROCOLOR G now enters the extrusion market building on the Spectrocolor V volumetric version. motan, the global leader in materials handling for the plastics industry, expands its comprehensive product portfolio designed to cover all areas of volumetric and gravimetric materials blending and dosing. The compact SPECTROCOLOR G of modular design for LIW (Loss-In-Weight) dosing of free-flowing granular material and regrinds affords the user a unit with an excellent price-performance ratio. Traditional application areas are flood-fed single screw and starve-fed twin screw extrusion.

LUXOR 80/120/160 now available as advanced dryer

The tried-and-tested series of system dry-air generators - from 250 to 2400 m³/h - have been expanded by three more sizes: the LUXOR A 80, 120 and 160. With these additions, the range now includes ten models, all ideally suited for centralized drying of all types of plastics granulates, particularly of high-end materials and engineering plastics in frequently changing batch sizes. Functions, such as conveying to up to 16 drying bins and 24 machine material loaders, have been added. In addition, up to three conveyor blowers can be employed. Any one of these advanced versions can easily be incorporated into all available motan drying bin systems. Furthermore, the drying bins in the 100 to 2400 litre series have been expanded by the LBA system bins with a capacity of 15, 30 and 60 litres. They are equipped with all essential options - as are the large models.

ETA plus® with automatic airflow control

motan's energy-efficient ETA drying technologies are already considered the gold standard. Now, the company is taking energy efficiency to the next level: with ETA plus® air regulation, comprising a temperature adjustment feature, airflow control and the ETA waste heat recovery system.

During waste heat recovery, energy from the return air is used to heat input material. This also lowers the temperature of the waste heat. Compared with conventional drying units, those featuring ETA plus® technology allow a reduction in energy consumption of over 60 per cent.

The airflow control automatically takes into variations in the temperature of the input material. In short, airflow control with temperature reduction is a further innovation when it comes to ensuring energy input for the drying can be adapted to different drying conditions.

To make drying systems easier to configure, the control system is pre-loaded with a database containing the key characteristics of around 70 standard materials. Data for approximately 100 further materials can be added in accordance with customer needs.

MINICOLOR with new disc dosing

motan-colortronic now provides MINICOLOR dosing units with disc dosing. They are particularly suitable for consistent dosing of small quantities and for applications where screw dosing is too imprecise or unsuitable due to the properties of the bulk material. Disc dosing is also ideal for rapid injection moulding. For specialist applications, disc and screw dosing can be combined on the same machine.

New Metro powder hopper loaders

The new Metro powder hopper loaders have been designed for both easy free-flowing and non free-flowing powders. They are available in three sizes for material throughputs of up to 200, 500 and 1,000 kg/h. These devices can either be deployed alone or integrated into a central system. For powders that hardly flow at all, a screw discharge system is available. All hopper loaders are compatible with METROnet control systems.
