New End Mill Technology Designed for Maximum Chip Removal in Aluminum
Glendale Heights, IL...OSG Tap & Die, Inc. has introduced The Blizzard(TM): an engineered series of high performance end mills for aluminum applications. The unique features of The Blizzard(TM) design are a special end cut gash and offset teeth, which allow for large depths of cut and maximum feed per tooth resulting in aluminum chips being virtually "blasted away". The Blizzard(TM) expands OSG's EXOCARB® WX-AL series of high-performance aluminum end mills.
The Blizzard(TM) is ideal for slotting, step milling, pocket milling and most other aluminum applications where rapid, maximum chip removal is desired. Extensive test data have proven the inch diameter Blizzard(TM) to deliver clean cuts at feed rates of 450 IPM and speeds of 9,000 RPM on highly rigid machine tools. Slotting operations on stub length tools can be performed at axial depths equal to the diameter of the tool.
The Blizzard(TM) End Mills feature a two flute design and are available in both regular and stub lengths. Also, square and various corner radii (0.010-0.120) are available as standard. The Blizzard(TM), manufactured in low cobalt regular grain carbide that enhances tool life by reducing BUE (built-up edge) during machining, is available in standard sizes range from 1/8" to 1" diameters. The Blizzard(TM) features high polished flutes; bright and DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coatings are stock items.
