Baumer Electric Introduces Compact, Easy-to-Program Absolute Cam Encoder
Southington, Conn. - January 22, 2003... Baumer Electric introduces the new programmable Absolute Cam Encoder, a compact and easy-to-program device designed to monitor speed, direction, and position. This absolute encoder allows the user to control 16 outputs through 250 programmable cams, and will retain cam position information in the event of power loss.
Compact and easy-to-mount, the Absolute Cam Encoder's IP65 housing is 58 mm in diameter with a depth of 78 mm. The encoder can be easily programmed through a serial interface with a Windows-based PC using PROGEBER, Baumer Electric's easy-to-program software package. The overall resolution of the Cam Encoder is 24-bit (12 bit/12 bit), allowing for tighter tolerance on cam outputs. Single and multi-turn steps can be adjusted separately. A deliberate zero point can be set through the programming software, eliminating the need to index or calibrate the machine.
Cam encoder models are available with 6 mm and 10 mm shaft sizes. This device is ideal for use in packaging and filling applications.
