New, NSF-Certified Hoffman Watershed(TM) Enclosures Help Maintain Washdown Environments

Anoka, MN-October 4, 2002-Introducing Hoffman Watershed(TM) Enclosures, a line of stainless steel freestanding and wall-mount enclosures with features designed to help prevent accumulation of contaminants by eliminating areas where water can pool. The patent-pending Hoffman Watershed Enclosures are certified by NSF International (www.nsf.org), the world leader in standards development and product certification for public health and safety.

Hoffman designed several exclusive features to facilitate complete washdown and solution runoff, including a unique 20-degree sloped top design that also prohibits foreign items from resting on top of the enclosures. The lift-off doors are sloped top and bottom to promote runoff and feature contoured latching and bullet hinges that minimize entrapment. A slanted flange trough collar prevents water from pooling along the top edge of the enclosure opening, and Hoffman's continuous foam-in-place gasket provides tight sealing.

"Given the cases of consumer product contamination, greater scrutiny is being given to manufacturers' and producers' sanitation practices," said Chris Hood, Market Manager. Already the standard for all types of enclosures in food, beverage and pharmaceutical processing and packaging, Hoffman recognized the unique needs of manufacturers that regularly washdown production areas. "We started from scratch to design a line of enclosures that will satisfy the needs of companies most concerned about plant floor sanitary conditions", Hood added. "The result is Hoffman Watershed - enclosures uniquely engineered to help our customers maintain proper sanitation and protect controls in their demanding environments."

The UL 4X-rated Hoffman Watershed line includes 36 new models. The two-door, free-standing Watershed line offers 18 models in disconnect and non-disconnect configurations. Features include: sloped tops, rounded, asymmetrical lift-off doors, easily accessible flange mounted bullet style hinges, and Hoffman's patented PowerGlide® 3-point latching system - the only UL 4X certified handle available with a low profile, ergonomic pistol grip design and 316 stainless steel construction. An optional sanitary leg kit features four independent, adjustable legs that level the enclosure on floor surfaces that are typically sloped to accommodate wash down runoff. The legs are designed to have minimal surface area on the floor to allow users to keep the floor under the enclosure clean.

Hoffman Watershed wall-mount models offer 18 different sizes with self-grounding, stainless steel quarter-turn latches and double seal. Accessories include stand-off kits which provide separation of the enclosure from the wall, facilitating greater washdown accessibility.
