Elma Electronic Releases Chassis Compliant To VITA 1.7 for Higher Power Applications
FREMONT, California, June 18, 2003 - Elma Electronic Inc., a global manufacturer of electronic packaging products, has developed enclosures compliant to the VITA 1.7 specification for higher power requirements.
The VITA 1.7 specification increases the current rating of the existing DIN connector pins (both 3-row 96 pin and 5 row 160-pin) from 1 Amp to a minimum of 2 Amps per contact. To address this change, Elma has developed a new Type 12 HP (High Power) chassis that offers higher performance cooling techniques, a VITA 1.7-compliant backplane, and higher wattage power supplies.
The Type 12 HP chassis features modular 1400-watt power supplies geared for high efficiency. They offer voltages of 5V @ 120A/160A, 3.3V @ 80A/40A, and +/- 12V @ 16.7A. The chassis offers superior cooling with three fans capable of a combined 570 CFM at sea level. Utilizing the Type 12's rugged rackmount design, extra air intake holes have been added for increased airflow. The VME and VME64x backplanes meet the increased current rating per VITA 1.7.
The Type 12 chassis product line comes in 2U to 15U sizes for 19" rackmount applications. The alodined aluminum construction is both protective and attractive. The unit is IEEE 1101.10/11 compliant and offers advanced EMC sheilding and optional 80mm rear I/O.
