Emulation Technology supports TI TMS570LSxx processor compatibility.

Press Release Summary:

VarioTAP® technology, used for universal processor emulation, is available for Texas Instruments TMS570LSxx models of Hercules™ series. Processor is configured to provide design-integrated test and programming instruments via native debug port. As part of IP library, VarioTAP® model contains all relevant access information for respective target processor. Users can, due to this, select processor and then test and validate connected hardware units and program Flash memories.

Original Press Release:

VarioTAP® Emulation Technology Available for TMS570LSxx Processors from Texas Instruments

GOEPEL electronics announces the extension of the VarioTAP® technology for universal processor emulation now also for the Texas Instruments TMS570LSxx family of the Hercules™ series. The processor is reconfigured to provide design-integrated test and programming instruments via the native debug port. The VarioTAP® model as part of an extensive IP library contains all relevant access information for the respective target processor. Based on this, users can select the processor and then test and validate connected hardware units and program Flash memories.

With the new VarioTAP® model, this principle is now also available for the TMS570LSxx family from Texas Instruments, which has been specially designed for safety-critical transport applications. Main application fields of the processor family are automotive, railway technology and aviation. The processors are based on a 32-bit ARM Cortex R4F RISC architecture with clock frequencies up to 160MHz and are integrated into miniaturized housings as nFPGA (new Fine Pitch Ball Grid Array) with up to 337 pins. Designs of this type do not allow direct contacting to external instruments. The aim of VarioTAP® is to provide design-integrated tools for test, hardware debug, Flash programming and design validation after chip mounting.

About VarioTAP®:

VarioTAP® is a technology for processor emulation developed by GOEPEL electronic. Thereby, a processor is reconfigured to provide design-integrated test and programming instruments via the native debug port. A respective VarioTAP® model, as part of an extensive IP library, contains all relevant access information for the respective target processor. On this basis users can select a processor corresponding to their design and be able to test and validate the connected hardware unit as well as program Flash memories.
