Emissions Monitoring System offers 2-point stream switching.

Press Release Summary:

MicroCEM(TM) TS field-mountable, continuous emissions monitoring system allows facilities to monitor 2 sample points/stacks with one analyzer system. Monitor extracts sample gas, conditions sample, analyzes sample for desired components, and processes emissions data by utilizing calibration validation calculations/procedures and oxygen diluent corrections. MicroCEM TS stores relevant raw/diluent corrected emissions, flags, calibrations, and alarms for 3 months.

Emerson Adds Modular Two-point Stream Switching Option to Continuous Emissions Monitoring System

New MicroCEM(TM) TS brings added efficiency and cost savings for applications that require the monitoring of two stacks or SCR inlet-outlet configurations

ORRVILLE, OHIO (September 9, 2004) - Facilities using one continuous emissions monitoring system for each combustion stack can now reduce system and cost requirements almost in half with Emerson Process Management's new Rosemount Analytical MicroCEM(TM) TS system. The MicroCEM TS is a compact, field-mountable continuous emissions monitoring system that now features a two-point stream switching option, which allows facilities to monitor two sample points/stacks with one analyzer system. The new MicroCEM TS provides accurate, continuous monitoring of two stacks or SCR inlet-outlet configurations, reducing equipment needs, system maintenance and enclosure requirements.

Using proven extractive monitoring technology, the MicroCEM TS system extracts a sample gas, conditions the sample, analyzes the sample for the desired components and processes the emissions data by utilizing required calibration validation calculations/procedures and oxygen diluent corrections. The MicroCEM TS is also a data acquisition system (DAS) that stores relevant raw/diluent corrected emissions, flags, calibrations and alarms for a period of three months.

For the new stream switching option on the MicroCEM TS, a second probe/sample handling box is added to the MicroCEM TS's physical configuration along with an additional small external NEMA 4X switch box to control the sampling and calibrations to each stream. The second probe/sample handling box allows the MicroCEM TS to continuously flow a gas sample to the analysis enclosure.

This continuous flow provides the highest possible emissions measurement up-time compared to stream switch systems in which only a probe pipe is included on the second stack. In those systems, the sample must travel the full sample line length to the sample handling components each time the stream is switched, leading to inconsistent calibrations and costing users precious time and emission data as time passes.

The MicroCEM TS offers a variety of user-friendly features, including:
o Selectable stream times and bypass times
o Ability to turn track and hold features on and off for both calibration and bypass modes
o Switching between stream views via the web browser
o Storing three months data for each stream
o Selectable automatic calibration times for both streams
o Adjusting ranges, dual ranges, drift failure percentage, calibration gases, alarms settings, calibration sequences and all other parameters for each stream

MicroCEM TS systems consist of three major components: two sample conditioning/probe enclosures, in which the sample gas is extracted and conditioned, and the analysis enclosure, in which the sample is analyzed and data is stored and retrieved. The sample conditioning/probe enclosure is located on a stack at the sample port location, thus eliminating the need for a heated sample line. The NEMA 4X-rated analysis enclosure can be located at the sampling location, at the bottom of the stack or in an environmental location up to 300 feet away, allowing field personnel to more easily access the enclosure.

Additional MicroCEM TS features include:
o Semi-conductor industry-standard PC-104 electronics allow for easy plug and play
o Ultra-flexible pocket PC display/keypad
o HTML web-browser operator interface provides user display and interface from anywhere in the world via the world wide web
o Built-in DAS handling system
