Sensors, Inc. Introduces the NO/NO2 200 System for Measuring Oxides of Nitrogen

SALINE, Mich., May 10- Accurate measurement of oxides of nitrogen is an important part of emissions control technology, and as emissions standards become more stringent, the need for accuracy is ever increasing.

In response to these changing needs Sensors, Inc., offers the latest innovation in its SEMTECH product line, the SEMTECH NO/NO2 200 emissions analysis unit. The SEMTECH NO/NO2 200 provides accuracy within ±3% of the reading, or 15 parts per million (ppm), whichever is greater, for both NO and NO2.

For both gas constituents, resolution is one ppm and linearity is ±1 % of the reading or 5 ppm, whichever is greater.

Key to the design of the SEMTECH NO/NO2 200 is the use of an electrodeless lamp (EDL). Discreet spectral lines emitted by the EDL correspond to adsorption wavelengths for NO and NO2, eliminating the need for an NO2 to NO converter.

The use of specific wavelengths also eliminates the risk of interference from water vapor in the non-dispersive ultraviolet (NDUV) analyzer. The EDL is warranted for 20,000 hours, and Sensors, Inc., has been using the NDUV analyzer in other products for several years.

The high level of precision that the SEMTECH NO/NO2 200 offers can be utilized by various levels of industry:

1. Monitoring engine performance of vehicles in use;

2. Research and development of engines and emission control equipment; and

3. Testing in end-of-the-line production environments.

Tailoring the NO/NO2 200 to be ideally suited for each of these applications is possible because the unit uses sophisticated control electronics and software with advanced algorithms. The core component is a powerful PC/104 computer designed for industrial applications. With this design, the addition or removal of hardware modules is easy and cost-effective.

Compared to other types of gas analyzers, the SEMTECH NO/NO2 200 costs less, uses less power, and requires less maintenance. It offers lab-quality performance yet it is rugged enough for continued use in the field.

Sensors, Inc. has been an industry leader in the design and manufacture of OEM gas analyzers for inspection and maintenance (I/M) for more than 30 years. In the last four years, Sensors has shifted their R&D focus to on-road, in-use technology. The cornerstone of this development has been the company's robust, solid-state analytical devices and highly evolved software.
