Original Press Release:

New CISPR 16 Part 1-Compliant EMI Measuring Receiver with Extended Frequency Range Available from Schaffner EMC

Edison, NJ, July 2002 - A new EMI measuring receiver that is fully compliant with CISPR 16 part 1 and offers an extended frequency range of 9 kHz to 18 GHz is now available from Schaffner EMC, Inc. The SMR4518 is ideal for EMC testing laboratories, military and automotive standards testing, and commercial EMC testing applications.

The SMR4518 has a measurement accuracy of less than 1.5 dB for the 9 kHz to 1005 MHz range; under 2.0 dB for the over 1005 MHz to 2.75 GHz range; and less than 2.5 dB from over 2.75 GHz to 18 GHz.

Pre-selection and auto-ranging provides over-ranging protection on pulse measurement across the EMI measuring receiver's full frequency range, as well as high image frequency suppression from 2.75 GHz to 18 GHz. In addition, sensitivity is increased by a preamplifier behind pre-selection combined with the instrument's low overall noise figure, enabling accurate measurement of signals from -26 to 137 dB microV.

The SMR4518 is an easy-to-use receiver that can store numerous functions including device presetting, measured data, frequency spectrum and tables, limit lines, transducer corrections factors and direct data generation. The large, 8-1/2" TFT-color display of the instrument shows various detectors, graphs, and measured values simultaneously. The SMR4518 can operate as a standalone unit or can be configured for automatic testing when paired with the proper software, such as Schaffner's EMC Compliance 3 test software.

The SMR4518 has a resolution of 100 Hz (1 kHz at IF-bandwidth 1 MHz); a frequency accuracy of 10-6; an operating temperature of 0°C to 45°C (32°F to 113°F) and a storage temperature of -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F). Frequency can be tuned via a key pad or tuning knob and is step width programmable. Measurements taken from the SMR4518 are also compliant with VDE, EN, ETS, FCC, VDE, ANSI and VCCI standards.

Pricing for an SMR4518 starts at $61,780. Delivery is 8-10 weeks ARO.
