High Reliability Emergency Stop Pushbutton Switches
APEM's A01 Series emergency stop pushbutton switches are designed for use in machinery where fast dependable power shutdown is essential to prevent serious hazard to the operator, or serious damage to the machine itself, or to things that come into contact with the machine.
An emergency stop switch is located in a prominent position close to the operators station, so that if a problem occurs, or is even suspected, the operator merely pushes the large red button on the switch, and power is shut down instantly breaking 2 pairs of switch contacts. This double break opens both sides of the power line for maximum safety and reliability.
To re-establish power to the machine after the problem has been found and eliminated, the switch button is rotated in the direction of the engraved arrows which re-connects the switch contacts and returns the actuator button to its higher ON position. Applications abound for this type of switch in large and small machinery in numerous industries. Examples include mobil conveyances, automatic assembly machines, printing presses, radiation units, over-head cranes, and many others.
The A01 emergency stop switches are only one configuration available from APEM's extensive Industrial Controls family, and are offered with a choice of either a 1.575" diameter or .945" diameter red actuator button with white engraved arrows. They feature total modular construction, consisting of a snap together Operator and Switch block, and mount into a keyed .630" diameter panel cutout with integral hardware. Rating for these models is 10 mA at 5 VAC min. to 6 A at 250 VAC max with an electrical life of 6000 cycles minimum. APEM also offers their A02 models of this product with the higher ratings of 25 mA at 5 VAC min. to 12 A at 380 VAC, or 16 A at 250 VAC maximum.
