Emergency Gas Shutoff System

February 28, 2002

Halogen's newest system utilizes the new economical Terminator actuator, which has many of the design features of its more expensive counterpart, but at a lower price.

Our new emergency shutoff system provides a high degree of safety and dependability for smaller facilities that use chlorine, sulfur dioxide and ammonia 150-lb. cylinders. This Terminator system has the following key features:

- It allows operating personnel to quickly terminate leaks related to cylinder valves, flexible connectors and connecting manifolds to prevent the exposure of personnel or the surrounding community to large releases of hazardous gases.

- A self-contained 12 VDC battery system assures its operation in the event of an electrical AC power failure.

- The actuator installs quickly and easily on 150-lb. cylinder valves with no additional mounting hardware.

- The Terminator actuator system may be employed to mitigate the impact of chlorine and other hazardous gas leaks as required in Risk Management Planning (RMP).

- All Fire Codes (IFC and UFC) have now recognized and approved the use of automatic shutoff devices on chlorine cylinders in lieu of scrubber systems. Halogen is the leading supplier of these devices.

- An optional "Relay Interface Module" can be purchased to provide a power output signal after the emergency actuation of the system.
