High-Lites Introduces 200 Series Emergency Lighting Ballast Packs; New Ballasts Allow Standard Fluorescent Fixtures To Automatically Convert To Emergency Lighting During Power Outages
Waterbury, Connecticut, November, 2001 -High-Lites, Inc., the manufacturer of high-performance emergency lighting, and illuminated exit and directional signage, a subsidiary of the JJI Lighting Group, Inc., has announced the addition of 5 new models to their 200 Series of compact ballast packs for converting linear fluorescent lighting fixtures to emergency units during power outages.

Product Applications: The five new 200 Series fluorescent emergency ballasts packs from High-Lites, Inc. all allow the some lighting fixture to do double duty in both normal and emergency conditions. During interruptions of line voltage, standard linear fluorescent lighting fixtures switch on to provide emergency illumination in all commercial and institutional environments, including schools, retail stores, healthcare facilities, hospitality venues, and public and private office buildings.
Product Description: The latest editions to High-Lites' 200 Series Models 216, 217, 204SX, 21 1SX & 215SX allow the same fixture to provide lighting during normal or emergency conditions. In the event of a power failure, each fixture automatically switches to emergency mode and provides 90 minutes of lamp operation via a long-life, high-temperature rechargeable NiCad battery. When normal power is restored, an integral battery charger returns the battery to full charge.
Models 216 and 217 operate 2- and 4-foot T5 or T8 linear fluorescent lamps in any type fixture. Model 216 operates at an initial output of 500 lumens, while Model 217 allows for additional illumination with an initial output of 825 lumens. Both models feature a low-profile design which measures a mere 1.18-inches in height by 1.15-inches in width, making each ideal for use in linear lighting fixtures.
Models 204SX, 21 1SX and 215SX high-output fluorescent emergency ballast packs each provide up to 1300 lumens of normal and emergency light output. Model 204SX operates single or bi-pin T8, T12, HO or VHP fluorescent lamps. Models 211SX and 215SX operate l0W to 42W 4-pin compact fluorescent lamps.
Models 204SX, 21 ISX and 215SX feature state-of-the-art self-diagnostics function which constantly self-monitors and diagnoses potential problems with the lighting fixture. The self-diagnosis function also self-tests the fixture for 30-seconds monthly, and for 90-minutes annually, to ensure reliable, optimum fixture performance.
Construction & Finishes: Models 216, 217, 204SX, 211 SX and 215SX have stainless-steel housings with a durable baked polyester powdercoat finish. All 200 Series fluorescent emergency ballast packs are UL and CUL listed for a factory or in-field retrofit installation. Series 200 fluorescent emergency ballast packs also meet or exceed all National Electrical Code and Life Safety Code requirements for Emergency Lighting.
