VersaLogic Introduces Python RoHS-Compliant Embedded Computer

Eugene , OR , April 3, 2007 - VersaLogic Corp. today announced a new embedded SBC to complement their existing line of EBX products. The fanless "Python" board features a highly reliable design, no moving parts, low power draw (less than 5W), and a robust complement of on-board I/O options. In addition, the Python includes VersaLogic's new SPX expansion interface that allows users to easily add a wide-range of low-cost I/O options to the platform.

The Python uses AMD's energy-saving LX 800 processor. The LX 800 uses standard x86 architecture to support familiar user interfaces and O/S environments. The processor consumes very little power (less than one watt CPU core power consumption) and is among the highest performance per watt CPUs available in the market today. Standard on-board features for the Python include one 200-pin SODIMM socket accepting up to 1 GB of 333 MHz PC2700 compatible DDR RAM , Four COM ports, Four USB 2.0 ports, dual Ethernet ports, IDE, LPT, Digital I/O, Analog input, audio I/O, and keyboard/mouse support. The board also includes integrated SVGA and LVDS flat-panel support with MMX & 3DNow! for video-intensive applications. System expansion is supported by the PC/104- Plus interface (for IS A and PCI add-on modules), and VersaLogic's new SPX interface for simplified I/O expansion. The Python may also be used as a CPU module for a larger system, by plugging it into a proprietary base board that includes specific user I/O circuitry.

The Python is ideal for aerospace, homeland security, medical, and industrial applications. Fully RoHS-compliant and designed to meet EU Directive 2002/95/EC, the Python is especially suited for markets in Europe, California, China and other areas wh ere restrictions on the use of hazardous materials in electronic components are in force or are being considered. Gary Harris , VersaLogic's VP Engineering, comments, "The Python is a feature-rich, mid-performance platform that will augment our line of SBCs. The new SPX interface offers OEMs a great low cost alternative for I/O expansion."

As with other VersaLogic embedded computer boards, the Python includes a customizable, OEM-enhanced BIOS that is field-upgradeable. It is designed to work with embedded operating systems, including Windows CE/XP/XPe, Linux, VxWorks, QNX, DOS, and other real-time OSs .

The Python is currently available from stock. Pricing is $630 in OEM quantities. For additional information contact VersaLogic Corp. at (541) 485-8575 or info@versalogic.com, or visit their on-line catalog at www.VersaLogic.com.
