Dual-E Controller Most Innovative New Product Finalist

JK microsystems new Dual-E(TM) controller was recently honored as a finalist in a contest administered by the University of California, Davis.

UC Davis CONNECT, which aids in the creation and success of local technology businesses, held its second annual Most Innovative New Product Awards banquet in Sacramento last month.
The awards celebrate the innovation and hard work of companies in the Sacramento region. They are based primarily on the product's degree of innovation and its market potential within four categories; (1) biotechnology, life-science and medical-device, (2) hardware and physical device, (3) software and (4) telecommunications/wireless.

JK microsystems Inc. was honored as a finalist in the Hardware / Physical Device category for its new Dual-E embedded microcomputer. The Dual-E is made for data acquisition, networking or industrial control applications requiring multiple network connections. Equipped with two independent Ethernet ports, the Dual-E can function as a bridge between separate networks, serve as a miniature firewall/router, or provide Ethernet and serial connectivity to existing equipment. Developers can utilize many of the Dual-E's software and hardware features within their custom control application, which can include communication via Ethernet or accessing the Internet over the dual ports.

Other Capital Region firms whose products were also selected as finalists included ThermoGenesis Corp., Special Devices Inc., Hayes Medical Inc., Amalgamated Video International, Tremaine & Associates, Compass A.l., DynaTech Engineering Inc., Dorado
Software, 5by5 Networks and Delta Business Solutions.

"These award winners, the finalists -- in fact the whole pool of nominees -- demonstrate that research-based innovation is thriving in the Sacramento region," said Nora Moore Jimenez,
director of UC Davis CONNECT.
