Introducing Sigma-Nip®

Sensors Expo, Booth 831

Please join us as we introduce Sigma-Nip® -- our second-generation electronic sensor and software diagnostic maintenance tool for measuring nip width.

(We won the Sensors Expo Award in 2001 for Nip products)

Madison, NJ (USA) -June 11, 2007- Sensor Products Inc. will feature its film and electronic systems for measuring surface pressure and distribution at the Sensors Expo on June 11-13. Visit us at Booth 831.

Pressurex® is a thin flexible film that instantly captures and permanently records pressure distribution and magnitude between two contacting surfaces.

Tactilus® is a matrix-based tactile surface sensor with Windows®-based proprietary software that is used to record surface pressure distribution and magnitude in real time.

In addition, Sigma-Nip®, which has been perfected over the past two years using experience acquired from almost 20 years in the industry, will be displayed.

Its powerful features speed up and make more accurate the routine maintenance of roller alignment and roller crowning. Sigma-Nip® has sensors that are deployed right on the nip surface, giving instantaneous real-time feedback on nip condition.

But most importantly, clients who have tested Sigma-Nip® believe it will help them minimize mill downtime, avoid costly web breaks, and extend cover life.

o The sensors linked on a plastic carrier sheet can measure and detect nip width at up to 30 discreet points across the cross-direction (CD).

o The sensors are more durable and long-lasting. They can also easily be dispersed across the nip by just one person.

o Its software interface is highly refined and Microsoft Vista compliant. It is also more robust, allowing for comparative analysis and detailed adjustments while the sensor is in the closed (non-rotating) nip.

o Sigma-Nip® is extremely lightweight and portable. This means it can be quickly carried and used throughout the plant to align roller sets. It connects through a wireless connection or USB port to any Windows-based laptop or tablet.

o This powerful tool tolerates pressures of 3,000 PSI (211 kg/cm²), making it potentially usable on calendar rolls.
