SOR Introduces New Electronic Pressure Transmitter

(Lenexa, Kansas, USA) - SOR Inc. announces the introduction of a new electronic pressure transmitter - the 805PT. The device, often referred to as a "stick" transmitter, is a compact, low-cost replacement for similar, less than robust units available from competitors or as an electronic alternative to conventional, full-size transmitters.

The 805PT was developed by the SOR Engineering department to fulfill the needs of the oil & gas industry for a ruggedly-built, continuous monitoring device that will perform dependably in hazardous locations and hostile environments where space is limited.

Product Manager Michael Lian says, "Even though the 805PT was developed as a response to customer requests from the oil and gas industry, it is an ideal solution for any industry hazardous location application requiring a simple 4-20mA transmitter such as power generation, petrochemical plants, water and wastewater facilities and pulp and paper mills." Lian also reports that pre-launch discussions with potential end-users revealed that they are unsatisfied with the lack of durability of the inexpensive "throw-away" transmitters and don't need to spend the high price for a "smart" instrument. They indicate that the price range, sturdy construction of the 805PT and the SOR reputation for building long-lasting instruments is exactly what they are seeking.

The SOR 805 PT is available fixed-range or field adjustable model. It features seven pressure ranges:

0-100 psi

0-250 psi

0-500 psi

0-1000 psi

0-2500 psi

0-5000 psi

0-10000 psi

A calibration kit including USB connections and software for the field adjustable model will be available in November, 2009.

Output options are either 4-20mA or 1-5 VDC. Process connection size is ½-inch NPT(M) with ¼-inch NPT(F).

The 805PT pressure transmitter has a three-year warranty and holds agency explosion-proof (hazardous locations) and/or flameproof approvals from FM(Canada and USA), ATEX and has a Canadian Registration Number (CRN) in all provinces.
