Electronic Circuit Breakers protect 24 Vdc load circuits.

Press Release Summary:

Rated for hazardous and non-hazardous environments, EC-E Circuit Breakers combine active electronic current limiting for short-circuit conditions and overload shutdown, ensuring breaker responds to fault conditions faster than power supply. Units have current limitation of 1.3-1.8 times rated current of circuit protector. Rated for current ranges from 0.5-12 A, series includes EC-E1 with N/O signal contact, EC-E4 with N/C contact, and EC-E with reset capability and status output.

Circuit Breakers Protect 24 V DC Load Circuits in Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Environments

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Phoenix Contact's new EC-E electronic circuit breakers selectively protect load circuits connected to a 24 V DC power supply. The EC-E combines active electronic current limiting for short-circuit conditions and overload shutdown, ensuring that the circuit breaker responds to fault conditions faster than the power supply.

Rated for both hazardous and non-hazardous environments, the EC-E has a current limitation of 1.3 to 1.8 times the rated current of the circuit protector. It is possible to switch on capacitive loads of up to 20,000 µF. The circuit breaker is disconnected only when an overload or short circuit occurs. The operator can turn the EC-E on or off manually using the integrated slide switch, or remotely reset the breaker via an input signal.

The EC-E series comes in three versions. The EC-E1 has an N/O signal contact; the EC-E4 has an N/C signal contact; and the EC-E has reset capability and status output. All have LED indication and are rated for current ranges from 0.5 A through 12 A.

The EC-E circuit breaker is rail-mountable and measures just 12.5 mm wide, making it one of the smallest designs with Class 1, Division 2 approval.
