Starrett Expands New No. 799 Electronic Calipers Series with Extended Range Models.



Athol, MA, USA (March 30, 2007) - Today, the L.S. Starrett Company announced they have expanded their No. 799 Series Electronic Calipers series with new extended range models up to 40" (1016mm). No. 799 Calipers feature a light, ergonomic design, are easy-to-use and have a slim, streamlined profile. They also feature zero at any position, inch/mm conversion, a large, clear, highly visible LCD display, and easy access to a long-life battery.

In addition to the standard features/functions of models covering the 0-12" range, the new 24" and 40" extended range calipers offer several unique features. These include .50" high readout on the LCD display, automatic shutoff after 30 minutes of inactivity, a preset/hold feature which lets the user easily enter a preset value or hold the reading after a measurement has been taken, and the ability to set minimum and maximum limits.

The Starrett 799 Series is equipped with an easy-to-read LCD display with .32" high readout on the 0-6", 8" and 12" models. Simple, push-button features provide zero at any position and instant inch/millimeter conversion. Resolution is .0005" (0.01mm) and linear accuracy meets DIN862 standard. To prolong battery life, the 0-6", 8" and 12" calipers automatically shut off after 5 minutes of inactivity, while retaining the last measuring position.

The body, slide, and jaws of all No. 799 Calipers are made from hardened stainless steel for durable, long life. A conveniently located thumb wheel provides fine adjustment and a lock screw is provided to hold the slide in position. Each model includes an integrated depth rod. The jaw depths range from 1-1/2" outside, 5/8" inside for the 6" model; 2" outside, 5/8" inside for the 8" model; 2-1/2" outside, 23/32" inside for the 12" model. The I.D. jaw dimension for the extended range 24" and 40" models is .800" (20.32mm).

Accessories include a Center Distance Attachment and Depth Attachment for the 6" and 8" models. A Deluxe Padded Case is optional for the 6" (150mm) model and finished wood cases are available for the 8" (200mm), 12" (300mm) models. The 6" and 8" models are also offered with a Standard Letter of Certification.
