NKK Switches Introduces New Product Line of Surface Mount Electromechanical Switch Devices

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (March 10, 2003)- NKK Switches introduces a complete product line of surface mount electromechanical switch devices, designed to offer innovative solutions to the technical challenges engineers face today.

The ultra-miniature size of NKK Switches' surface mount products allows for high-density mounting and incorporation in the smallest hand-held devices. NKK Switches offers all five major actuation types: toggle, pushbutton, slide, DIP rotary and tactile. The crisp actuation of the surface mounts allows for a positive indication of circuit status, and the long life and logic-level electrical capacity set the surface mounts apart from its competitors.

Available in single or double pole, the toggles include maintained action and momentary action models. Pushbuttons also come in single or double pole models with momentary circuits. NKK Switches offers all toggles and pushbuttons in upright or right angle mount and bracketed or unbracketed devices.

Engineers can specify a side actuated surface mount slide switch, which comes in single pole double throw or single pole triple throw models.

Available in both screwdriver and shaft-actuated models, NKK Switches' DIP rotaries offer real or complement codes with ten and 16 positions. This series includes bracketed and unbracketed switches, in both upright and right angle models. Rounding out NKK Switches' surface mount portfolio, the 6mm tactile switch is available in an upright mount.

NKK Switches' surface mount products are constructed of heat resistant resins, which allow for exposure to vapor phase and reflow soldering. The molded-in, epoxy-sealed terminals conform to standard PC board grid spacing. In addition, the gull wing terminals ensure mechanical stability and simplify solder joint inspection. While the industry practice of screening solder paste at a decreasing thickness requires extremely flat component terminals to ensure contact with solder paste, NKK delivers coplanarity control on all surface mount devices as standard. Packaging options include tape-reel, stick-tube and partitioned tray, with tape-reel the most popular of the options.

A leading designer and producer of electromechanical switches, NKK Switches offers one of the industry's most extensive selections of illuminated, process sealed, miniature, specialty and surface mount switches. The company manufactures more than three million toggle, rocker, pushbutton, slide, rotary, DIP rotary, keypad and keylock switches. NKK Switches maintains a complete network of qualified representatives and distributors throughout the United States, Canada, Central and South America, Europe and Asia.
