Burkert Introduces Type 8041 Electromagnetic Flow Transmitter

Irvine, Calif., February 14, 2005 - Burkert announces the Type 8041 Electromagnetic Flow Transmitter, designed to operate as a transmitter and/or ON/OFF control. Able to function at high temperatures/pressures and compatible with pipe diameters from 1/2 inch to 16 inches, the solid-state sensor Type 8041 finds use in applications that include:

Waste water treatment

Flow control of drinking water (FDA approved)

Laundries (water consumption measurement/control)

Swimming pools (pump protection/flow control)

Food processing cleaning cycle monitoring (FDA approved)

Irrigation

Accommodating liquids with a conductivity > 20 µS/cm, the Type 8041 features a -4°F to 302°F medium temperature range and 233 psi maximum fluid pressure capability (with a brass or stainless steel fitting). Measuring range is 0.33 fps to 33 fps. Accuracy (for a measured value of 3.3 fps to 33 fps/-4°F to 266°F) is ±2% of measured value using Burkert's Teach-In automatic calibration mode, ±4% of measured value using standard K-factor. Linearity is ±(1% of measured value + 0.1% of FS), while repeatability is 0.25% of measured value. Materials for the Type 8041's wetted parts are 316L stainless steel for the sensor finger and electrodes, EPDM for the unit's seal, and PEEK for the armature.

The Type 8041 features a 4-20 mA current output, plus pulse rate and relay outputs. The unit can be used in conjunction with various devices, including a PLC, Burkert's AirLINE Type 8644 Remote Process Actuation and Control System, Type 2712 Pneumatically Operated Globe Control Valve and Type 8025 Digital Flow Transmitter.
