Electrified Monorail System increases system uptime.

Press Release Summary:

Inductive Electrified Monorail system (EMS) features non-contact power and data transmission. System consists of integrated power/data line in rail and pick-ups on vehicle, which never make contact with each other. Drive power is passed to vehicle as induced current when pick-ups pass through magnetic field created by local converter. Data is modulated into carrier frequency and demodulated by vehicle control. EMS can be used in production, assembly, and distribution/warehousing applications.

Siemens Dematic Introduces Inductive Electrified Monorail System

The Inductive Electrified Monorail system (EMS) features non-contact power and data transmission for increased system uptime and minimized maintenance.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - (June 21, 2002)-Siemens Dematic, Rapistan Material Handling Automation Division, introduces an Inductive EMS with non-contact power and data transmission. This innovative and cost-effective technology works without wearing parts, which significantly reduces maintenance and ensures increased uptime. The fast and clean operating Inductive EMS can be used in applications for production, assembly, and distribution/warehousing in industries such as food/beverage, cosmetics, automotive or electronics.

Inductive EMS consists of an integrated power/data line in the rail and pick-ups on the vehicle. The drive power is passed to the vehicle as induced current when the pick-ups pass through the magnetic field created by a local converter. The data is modulated into the carrier frequency and demodulated by the vehicle control. Radio modules can be used for additional data communication.

There is no contact between the power/data line and the pick-ups; therefore no dust is created from wearing brushes. This ensures a clean work environment and makes it an ideal product to use within the food/beverage or electronics industries. Due to the inductive technology, there is no issue with ineffective power and communication rail contacts and the system works in difficult environmental conditions. Higher speeds on the return section enable a reduced number of hangers for optimized operation. Telescopic lifting hangers are also available.
