Porter-Cable Takes the Wheel with Enhanced Driver Line
JUNE 20, 2002 - NEW YORK CITY, NY - Porter-Cable Corporation announced today during a press conference at New York City's Hotel InterContinental the introduction of three new electric screwdrivers with enhanced features designed to endure hard, repetitive use. "A comfortable, continuous-use tool that tolerates everyday wear and tear is important to professionals," said Porter-Cable Product Manager Todd Craft. "Porter-Cable's new screwdriver line delivers power and durability to work as hard as professionals do everyday."
While each of Porter-Cable's three new drivers is designed for specific applications, they all offer similar enhancements. The model 4630 (0-5,000 RPM drywall screwdriver), model 4634 (0-2,500 RPM deck/drywall screwdriver), and model 4640 (0-2,500 RPM Teks(TM) and nut driver) all feature a variable speed 6.8 Amp motor, 100-percent ball and needle bearing construction, and precision machined and hardened steel gearing and clutches. Cast aluminum gear housings and magnesium bearing plates, along with glass filled nylon nosepieces, combine to provide life-long durability in tough applications. All models feature dust-sealed switches to prevent potential switch failure on the job.
Ergonomic features include easy-to-adjust depth setters that don't lose their depth setting when removed, ergonomic triggers and forward/reverse levers, conveniently located "lock-on" switches, and smaller multi-position soft-grip handles. Additionally, multi-position belt clips make it convenient for users to attach the drivers in any position - right or left-handed. "Porter-Cable was able to increase the drivers' power, life and durability, while at the same time making them ergonomically-friendly without increasing their weight," Craft said.
