Warner Electric Safety Hinge Switch Combines Long Life with Rugged Flexibility

SOUTH BELOIT, IL, June 26, 2002 - Warner Electric introduces the Warner Safety Hinge Switch, a hinge that integrates the features of a safety switch with the load-bearing capabilities of a hinge built for industrial applications.

The Warner Safety Hinge Switch is designed for mounting on extruded aluminum profiles, and steel or plastic doors to include machinery guards and covers, as well as safety fence doors. The die cast Zinc alloy body and slim profile of the hinge switch allows it to be mounted wherever space is constrained. The safety hinge switch can bear up to 168 pounds axially and more than 225 pounds radially, and meets the specifications of protection classes to IP67.

Traditional safety switches with separate actuator keys are often subject to mechanical wear, particularly when mounted on the closing edges of guards where constant use can cause misalignment. The safety hinge switch eliminates this problem because the safety contact is mounted internally and is tamper resistant. The hinge-operating angle is 0 to 180 degrees; similarly the switch point may be selected through 180 degrees.

One or more switches may be used together depending on the category of safety protection required. Matching hinges without safety contacts also are available, which allows the style to be standardized for general use.

Industry standard M12 connectors with axial or radial (rear) mounting are available, as well as a fixed cable version. The Warner Safety Hinge Switch is available in AC/DC to 250 V or 60 VDC versions.
