Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A. Introduces Electric Pallet Truck

IRVINE, Calif. (March 22, 2004) - Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A., Inc. (TMHU), the leading lift truck supplier in the United States and worldwide, today introduced its new 4,500 lb. capacity Electric Pallet Truck. This technologically advanced, highly maneuverable pallet truck features a compact design for improved efficiency in confined spaces.

Ideal for applications as varied as warehouse environments, retail stores, manufacturing and transportation operations, Toyota's new Electric Pallet Truck is a versatile, reliable and cost-effective material handling solution. It performs exceptionally well in confined or congested locations, such as trailers, improving spatial use and productivity.

"With every Toyota product, our focus is always on value for our customer. This means delivering the highest possible quality in terms of performance and reliability, while improving productivity and cost efficiency. The new Electric Pallet Truck is an excellent example of this philosophy put into practice," said Cesar Jimenez, electric product planning manager at TMHU.

Advanced engineering features are at the heart of the Electric Pallet Truck's outstanding performance. The SepEx(TM) (separately excited) drive motor and transistor control system combine to deliver excellent acceleration, top speeds and smooth speed control, which is essential for precise truck positioning and accuracy. The truck features a reduced head length along with tapered fork tips, yielding a compact design and superior maneuverability. Its "pinwheel" capability allows for right angle stacking inside trailers and other confined areas.

As with all Toyota industrial equipment, comfort and convenience are a priority. Operators will appreciate the multifunction control handle with large, ergonomically positioned buttons and dual thumb wheels for easy activation of all controls with either hand. For added comfort, angled handgrips fit the natural hand contour and reduce fatigue.

Toyota's new Electric Pallet Truck is designed to streamline maintenance and minimize downtime by incorporating several ease-of-service features. All major components are reachable for service and inspection through a one-piece lift-off service access cover, and the electrical, hydraulic and mechanical components are logically placed for easy service. The truck's system is engineered without drive contactors, reducing maintenance and inspection time. A programmable service indicator notifies operators of planned maintenance and service needs through the display.
